Philip Sparkes's Trombone Concerto was commissioned by the Deutsche Blaserphilharmonic for a recording, which took place in October 2006.

The concerto is in traditional three-movement form and the whole work could be seen as a dramatic soliloquy for the soloist, who starts in earnest and agitated mood but, as the concerto progresses, is able to take a more optimistic tone until he ends the work with a 'symphonic' samba. This arrangement comes with separate Bass clef & Treble clef parts.
